Why can Dr. Phil no longer practice psychology?

Phil McGraw cannot practice psychology because he no longer has a license to practice that is valid in any state. Why? It isn’t as scandalous as you might think.

Phil McGraw apparently voluntarily surrendered his license to the state of Texas in 2006. He is not a psychologist but rather an entertainer. He has flirted with crossing the line several times and has come under fire for trying to practice without a license.

That being said, Phil McGraw is a sensationalist who dwells squarely within the realm of pseudoscience and quackery. I would highly suggest avoiding his programming, just as I would suggest you avoid the pseudoscience of Mehmet Oz.
