About Moods

Why does my body require caffeine, or other psychoactive substances, in order to experience a positive mood? I feel bleakness and despair if I haven’t had a cup of coffee or energy drink to start my day.
Every time I drink coffee, I feel so good, but I get terrible mood swings and have low energy for three days after that. Is that normal?
What is the clear difference between the heart and the mind?

Stimulants only work for a while, a number of hours. When the stimulant wears off, it can feel like there is a drop in energy.

Phil McGraw cannot practice psychology because he no longer has a license to practice that is valid in any state. Why? It isn’t as scandalous as you might think.
Phil McGraw apparently voluntarily surrendered his license to the state of Texas in 2006. He is not a psychologist but rather an entertainer. He has flirted with crossing the line several times and has come under fire for trying to practice without a license.
That being said, Phil McGraw is a sensationalist who dwells squarely within the realm of pseudoscience and quackery. I would highly suggest avoiding his programming, just as I would suggest you avoid the pseudoscience of Mehmet Oz. It's a spectrum! Everyone's affected by it differently, and what works for one of us won't work for all of us.
People tend to forget that our traits affect us differently. I'm not exactly like my friend (who also has ADHD.) If you put us next to each other and asked someone “who has ADHD?” She wouldn't even be considered. My ADHD seems more stereotypical than hers.

About ADHD
I’m on Vyvanse 60 mg for ADHD. I get a lot done but sometimes it sustains my focus on minor things way too much. When studying calculus I end up playing with the math looking for patterns instead of studying. Any advice on how I can control my focus?
At a young age, I was diagnosed with ADHD, having been on many different medications that haven’t worked for me. My inability to focus is so severe, I've dropped out of high school because of it. I can’t study no matter how hard I try. What do I do?

Why don’t caffeine pills give me energy like coffee or energy drinks do?
Ingredients matter. There are many choices for caffeine pills and the ingredients can vary greatly. The right caffeine pill will give many users a somewhat similar temporary small energy boost as does coffee or energy drinks. Ingredients really do matter in caffeine pills. Some persons are extremely sensitive to soft drinks and can tell the difference between regular Pepsi, regular Coca-Cola, regular Dr. Pepper, regular Mt. Dew, etc. In some cases Pepsi and Dr. Pepper can work better than Coca-Cola or Mt. Dew. Ingredients matter. This is somewhat similar to the observation that a brand name prescription medicine can differ from a generic prescription medicine. For some, this is a real concern. Brand names and generics are not identical (ingredients matter).
Why do I get more energy from energy drinks than tea, even if the caffeine amount is the same?

Auditory Processing Issues
I was recently diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and have been having problems with language comprehension. What are some strategies I can use to function more efficiently?
What career is good for a person with a learning disability? I have auditory processing disorder but it’s getting slightly better. I want a job without going to college because I think college is just boring.
Do people with ADHD feel like they've never found where they belong? Is that part of the ADHD mind set?
Until a person understands what ADHD is, a person can be like a jigsaw puzzle where it appears one or more pieces of the puzzle are missing or wrongly cut/misshaped. It’s like a puzzle of: triangle, square, and circle where the ADHD person feels like an octagon which doesn’t quite fit into the puzzle perfectly.. ADHD, like epilepsy, narcolepsy, unilateral neglect, brain concussions, sports concussions, prosopagnosia, aphantasia, etc. is about neurology. Partial answer: written annual planner.
